At 1:45 PM...National Weather Service radars indicated areas of precipitation moving across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Snow was falling along and north of the Interstate 44 corridor...while rain showers were mixing with freezing rain...snow and sleet along and behind a freezing line which was located along a line from near Eufaula to near Grove. To the south of this freezing line...rain showers were occurring across the rest of the region. All of this activity was moving to the northeast at around 25 miles an hour. Through 3 PM...rain showers...changing to freezing rain...snow and sleet and then over to snow will continue to spread across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas as the freezing line slowly moves southeast. Hourly snow and sleet accumulations will generally be up to one inch...with locally higher amounts possible within the heavier bands. To the south of the freezing line...rain showers will continue for the rest of the region. Hourly rainfall rates of up to a tenth of an inch...with locally higher amounts up towards a quarter of an inch will be possible within the heavier rain showers. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for all of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas until 7 PM CDT Sunday.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect...

   Pushmataha... Choctaw... Washington... Osage... Craig... Nowata...
   Pittsburg... Sequoyah... McIntosh... Muskogee... Le Flore... Latimer
   and Haskell.
   In Arkansas... Washington... Madison... Crawford... Benton...
   Sebastian... Carroll and Franklin.

Hazardous weather...
* widespread sleet and snow are ongoing northwest of a line from
   Miami to McAlester... with reports of up to 5 inches of snow
   in Osage and Pawnee counties. The sleet and snow will continue
   to expand eastward through the afternoon hours... with a decrease
   in snow intensity likely during the early evening hours. The
   next round of heavy snow will develop later tonight and continue
   through Sunday... with the heaviest amounts impacting far
   eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. The snow will taper
   off late Sunday afternoon.

* Snow accumulations of 10 to 14 inches are forecast for far
   northeast Oklahoma into far northwest Arkansas. An area of 5 to
   9 inches will surround the axis of heaviest snow... and include
   both the Tulsa and Fort Smith metropolitan areas. South of
   Interstate 40 snow amounts of 3 to 5 inches are forecast.

Impacts...
* travel has become very hazardous across portions of northeast
   Oklahoma... and travel conditions will worsen with time further
   south and east. Isolated power outages are likely as heavy
   wet snow combines with northerly winds of 20 to 30 mph to stress
   trees and power lines.

* delay travel and stay home if possible until conditions improve.
