Discussion...
200 PM MDT Friday Mar 19 2010

Upper trough will continue to push southeast tonight with much
drier air moving in from the northwest. Precipitation chances will
decrease from northwest to southeast tonight and am expecting an
end to this event by early Saturday morning. Little in the way of
additional accumulation...perhaps an inch.

Despite decreasing cloudiness Saturday cold air and gusty north
winds will remain as low pressure deepens over northeast Texas.
Will continue to advertise low to middle 30s. Building high
pressure...light winds and a clear sky will allow for below normal
temperatures Saturday night with readings in the middle to upper teens.

Looking for much warmer and above normal daytime temperatures Sunday (low
to middle 50s) and Monday (upper 60s to low 70s) as upper ridge to
our west moves through before flattening Tuesday as another low
pressure system moves toward the area from the northwest. Would
not be surprised to see mondays temperatures a bit warmer as 850 temperatures
and the past 4 days bias supports 70 to 75 across the area.

For the Tuesday through Friday timeframe...the above mentioned
upper low and associated trough will move toward the Great Basin
late Tuesday afternoon then into central/northwest New Mexico by
00z Thursday and into the Texas Panhandle by 12z Thursday.
Precipitation chances will increase Tuesday night where some light
rain is possible early with a changeover to snow after midnight.
For Wednesday and Wednesday night focused highest probability of precipitation across the
south as the system slides east/southeast. Should have drier
conditions Thursday and Friday as system moves out and weak
ridging rebuilds. High temperatures Tuesday in the 60s...falling into the
40s Wednesday and Thursday before warming back up into the 50s for
Friday.

For the 06z tafs...snow has ended at both taf sites. Model data
pointing to MVFR ceilings staying in place until late morning to
early afternoon before becoming VFR. Satellite would seem to
support that. Otherwise...north winds of 15 to 20 knots with
periodic higher gusts will occur at both sites until early
afternoon before decreasing.
