Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Paducah Kentucky
627 am CDT Sat Mar 20 2010

Update...
updated aviation discussion for 12z tafs.

&&

Discussion...
upper level system seen over northern New Mexico will dig southeast...and
close off over the Red River valley region by this evening. The
upper low will then head east to the arklatex region by Sunday
evening. At the surface...a cold frontal boundary will approach
the region. However the flow will become dominated by surface low
pressure that will form in conjunction with the upper low across
the lower Mississippi and Tennessee Valley regions.

Will have a small chance of showers over the west 1/3 of the area
this afternoon. Highest chances tonight will be over the west and
southwest sector of the forecast area...with lowest chances far east. Categorical
probability of precipitation everywhere Sunday...with lingering likely probability of precipitation Sunday night
as a widespread area of rain/showers rotates north into the region on
the northern periphery of the storm system. Left a small chance of
thunder in Sunday...though instability parameters do not look
favorable for thunder at any time.

Decreasing probability of precipitation for rain Monday...with dry weather forecast Tuesday
through Wednesday. Next chance of rain showers will be next Thursday
into Friday.

One more day of very mild temperatures today...then cooler due to the
effects of the upper system...low level trajectories north of the
surface low...clouds and precipitation Sunday through Monday.

&&

Aviation...
VFR conditions expected for the taf period. Expect occasional middle
to high level cloudiness. Winds during the daytime hours should
be from the south 5 to 10 kts...shifting to a southeast or
easterly direction by this evening. An approaching storm system
will bring a good chance for precipitation...which will arrive
very late in the taf period for kcgi and kpah. Widespread rains
will overspread the area from south to north during the day on
Sunday...after 12z.
