At 10:30 am...National Weather Service radar continued to indicate snow falling across the majority of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. The bulk of the accumulating snow was falling along and east of a line from near Tulsa to near Poteau...with lighter snow falling to the west of this line. Freezing rain and sleet was also mixing in with snow across portions of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas as temperatures warm to and just above freezing. All of this activity was moving to the and southwest at around 25 mph. Through 11:45 am...snow will continue to fall across most of the region with locations mixing snow...sleet and freezing rain across northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas as temperatures continue to warm slightly to and above freezing. Hourly snow and sleet accumulation rates will generally be up to a half an inch...with locally higher amounts up to 2 or more inches possible within the heavier bands across northeast Oklahoma and near the Oklahoma Arkansas border. The Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7pm CDT this afternoon for all of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.

NWS Forecaster Discussion
367 fxus64 ktsa 211436 afdtsa Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Tulsa OK 936 am CDT sun Mar 21 2010 ... Discussion... reports from far northeast Oklahoma indicate that a snow/sleet/freezing rain mix is ongoing beneath the higher radar reflectivity returns. Light icing has been reported on tree limbs...and the recent drop of wind reports from the Oklahoma mesonet also support at least some minor icing. Temperatures remain right at freezing...thus elevated surfaces should be most suspect. Northerly winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour may be enough to impact any light iced power lines and/or tree limbs.
