391 fxak69 pafg 211423 afdafg Northern Alaska forecast discussion National Weather Service Fairbanks Alaska 623 am akdt sun Mar 21 2010 Synopsis... aloft... strong high north of Barrow will persist through Tuesday then move west. A short wave trough over NE Alaska will to the NE interior of Alaska by 4pm sun and develop into a 525 dm low near Denali park by 4pm Monday...and move to Bristol Bay by 4pm Tuesday as a 520 dm low. Much cooler air will move over Alaska with this feature. Weak south flow developing east of the low Tuesday will push some moisture up over the southeast interior Monday night and Tuesday. Surface... a surface trough from Cape Lisburne to Iliamna will move to Cape Lisburne to Bethel by 4am Monday then dissipate. Flurries along with this will dissipate tonight. A 1041 mb high north of the Arctic coast will persist through Tuesday. This will keep east winds 15-25 knots along the Arctic coast along with areas of blowing snow. An Arctic front from Northway to Denali to Ambler will move to burwash Landing to Ruby to Selawik by 4pm sun...and to burwash to Anvik to Bethel to Kivalina by 4pm Monday. This is a dry cold front and will primarily result in colder temperatures and gusty NE winds. Should see NE winds 15-25kt and cold wind chills along and NE of the cold front.
