Area forecast discussion...updated
National Weather Service Huntsville Alabama
1225 PM CDT sun Mar 21 2010

Update...for 18z tafs
&&

Aviation...-ra/shra continues across much of the area with ceilings
hovering near MVFR heights. These conditions should continue through
the afternoon hours and into the evening period. Surface winds may also
gust near 20 knots through 00z Monday. Precipitation should then begin to change
over to a -ra/snow mix or just -sn with ceilings hovering between 2-3k
feet and visible around 5sm. Precipitation should then begin to taper off after
14z although MVFR ceilings look to persist through the remainder of
the forecast period.
&&

Discussion...light rain continues to fall across the central and eastern
portions of the forecast area this morning...with a dry slot moving
into northwest Alabama. The dry slot though should be short lived with light to
moderate rain moving eastward across MS. The air mass across the area looks to
be well capped...with any instability to speak of well elevated. Can
not rule out a few elevated rouge lightning strikes this afternoon.
But coverage looks to be too minimal to include in the forecast
later this afternoon. The upper low however across northern la/southern Arkansas
still looks to move directly across the central Tennessee Valley later this
evening with colder air at the surface and aloft in Tow. Will at least
go ahead and remove thunder from the forecast today. Rest of the
forecast looks reasonable for now.

Hun watches/warnings/advisories...

Tennessee...none.
