Discussion... 


Early this afternoon Dolly was moving across south Texas toward 
north-central Mexico. Aloft the lower Mississippi Valley was under 
weak ridging between the circulation around Dolly and the upper 
low in the eastern Great Lakes. This was leading to convection 
drifting northward in areas around Baton Rouge to nearly 
stationary around New Orleans/Slidell eastward. The upper-level 
ridging will continue to build into the area over the weekend. 
However...there may be an upper-level disturbance or two that will 
push across the area on Friday and Saturday...increasing the 
chance for convection in the area. Otherwise...precipitation chances 
should be dropping to a slight chance in most areas into early 
next week. Some weakness in the ridging is expected to develop 
toward the middle of next week across the lower Mississippi 
Valley. This should allow for precipitation chances to return closer to 
climatology. 


Aviation... 


Thunderstorms are expected to be in the vicinity of 
msy...btr...mcb and possibly gpt this afternoon. Otherwise 
generally VFR conditions should prevail.
